Our Story

It all started with a love for books, not just new ones, but the old, well-read ones that carry a bit of someone else’s story.

I’ve always believed books are meant to be passed on, not forgotten on a shelf. That belief slowly evolved into Merchantsy Books, a small idea that grew out of a personal habit of collecting and sharing used books.

At first, it was just a few shelves at home, then a few more, until I realised there were many people like me, readers who care more about the story inside the book than the shine of its cover. That’s when I decided to create a space where those stories could continue to unfold.

Every book we sell has had a life before it reached us. Some have notes in the margins, some still carry the faint smell of old paper, and that’s what makes them special.

Our goal isn’t just to sell books. It’s to keep them in circulation, give them new readers, and make reading affordable for everyone.

We started in New Zealand, but the dream is bigger to share these stories with readers around the world. Because good books don’t have an expiry date, and every used book deserves a second chapter.
