The Villa Triste is a mystery novel set in Florence, Italy. The story moves between two timelines—one in the present day, and the other during World War II.
In the present, a police inspector named Alessandro Pallioti is asked to look into the murder of an old man. The man turns out to be a World War II hero. As Pallioti digs deeper, another body is found. Both men were part of the Italian resistance during the war.
Back in the 1940s, two sisters, Caterina and Isabella Cammaccio, become involved in the resistance movement. They are brave, young, and full of hope. Their choices lead to danger, and their story becomes deeply connected to the murders happening decades later.
As Pallioti investigates, he uncovers secrets that have been buried for over 60 years. The past slowly unravels, and what seemed forgotten comes back with strong consequences.
This is a story about courage, betrayal, and the long shadow of war. It shows how history doesn’t always stay in the past.
